My obsession with turtle necks will continue. Luckily, turtle necks are classic piece of clothing, and you should never recycle them - cause they will come back again and again. I am so love with this outfit. I also got to visit the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, unfortunately I was only there to shoot, my tour was private and short. But as soon as I entered the Museum my heart dropped, and I was amazed with the layout. The architecture of the exterior is amazing I will be going back soon to get full visit of the museum and I cannot wait to share more insight.

The coloured images are to mimic Afghanistan’s traditional jewelry. I have been in love with coined necklaces and central asian jewelry.  B&W images are to give a 1950s feeling; delivering some sassiness .

Coloured: Aldo Necklace/earrings/bracekets; H&M Choker; Marciano Dress

B&W: TopShop Hat; Zara Faux Fur Scarf; Aldo Rings

This year’s trend is all about the masculine fits. Crop tops are bolder. Blacks and whites with geometric shapes, and chunky shoes. For some odd reason I love it all. It might be the comfort of loose geo-shapes or the neatness of the blacks, whites and everything in between. Okay, okay… bright colours and prints are a never dying trend but this summer they are just NOT that hot! I wouldn’t imagine this skirt in any other colour but black or white. Simply because boxy cuts and fits are NOT complimented by bright colour. So my señoritas macho masculine fits look best in neutral colours.

Ancient coin references were all over Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2014 show; with blossoming flowers, coloured fur and pok-a-dots. For Fall 2014, D&G’s collection transitioned into the Byzantine religious references for a more divine yet empowering image. I was interested in recreating the same divine image but I mixed it the coin necklace. Back in Afghanistan, our traditional jewelry was exactly like the necklace I am wearing – although this necklace is from Urban Outfitters! If you go back in history, Afghanis were inspired by the Turks in terms of art and culture. The Turks were inspired by the Byzantine Empire; when the Ottoman Empire conquered Istanbul from the Byzantines [aka the Eastern Roman Empire]. It’s interesting how art inspires us to recreate – it keeps coming back in a better form.

DG2DG9I am absolutely in love with this necklace and so are all of my friends! Here, I have styled it with a metallic dress to get the “everthangg gold” look. Other times,  I pair the necklace with a white T and the culture of the coin necklace reinvents itself.
